Atlanta is the most surveilled city in America. With more than 60,000 cameras — roughly 1 for every 8 residents — Atlanta has more cameras per capita than any other U.S. city and, outside of China, is the most surveilled city in the world. Surveillance has become a defining part of life in Atlanta. Police departments are increasingly relying on technologies like license plate readers, drones, robot dogs, facial recognition, real-time crime centers and Flock Safety cameras, while businesses and residents are adding thousands of cameras of their own. Together, they form a vast and growing surveillance network that is nearly impossible to avoid.
