Why are Phoenix firefighters training in fast-moving water? Our Special Operations members train for swift-water rescues so they’re ready when monsoon storms turn normally dry areas into dangerous waterways, when someone needs to be rescued from a canal, or when communities outside of Phoenix experience major flooding and additional resources are needed.
