1: I start creating before I feel ready
Overthinking kills more music than lack of talent ever will. Clarity usually shows up after I begin.
2: I let myself become completely obsessed
Sometimes I’ll spend hours locked into one idea. Then I step away entirely. When I return to the DAW,
I'll often stop obsessing over something minor.
3: I use inspiration without copying
I treat reference songs like ingredients, not instructions.
4: I remake my favorite songs
Recreating songs you absolutely love is a great way to learn multiple different skills at once.
5: I protect my creative energy
It's important to always be mindful of your creative energy. Make sure you are spending time on things that actually matter.
6: I allow ideas to sound bad before they sound good
A lot of great music starts as a mess. The uncomfortable phase is part of the process. It won't be a banger right from the start.
