1. Bundesliga side TSG Hoffenheim barely escaped what would have been a disastrous start to the 2024-25 campaign, with 4th division Würzburger Kickers scoring early and holding Hoffenheim to a 1-1 draw at full-time in the first round of the DFB-Pokal. An extra 30 minutes saw each team score again, but tied at 2-2 things went to penalties to decide which team would advance in this year’s German Cup. Hoffenheim was able to get the advantage 5-3 to move on to the next round. I enjoyed my time in Würzburg (my second visit) and Ryan really loved the beautiful riverside town with so much history.
