Playing their only home match in June, Austin FC battled a game-long downpour and took an early lead over the Western Conference’s No. 2 team, Los Angeles FC, and played solid defense throughout. However, LAFC came out of the half and dominated possession in the final 45, creating multiple chances and stitching together six corner kicks in the final minutes of the match, where Kai Kamara was able to get a ball past Brad Stuver for the equalizer in the 90th minute. Austin broke LAFC’s eight-game winning streak across all competitions. But the Verde & Black showed yet again the frustrations of a season of ups and downs.
