The cloudy weather forced many in our local area to head a little west in hopes of clearer skies for today's eclipse. We drove a little less than an hour out to Burnet, where the skies (mostly) cleared during the totality.
The event, dubbed The Great North American Eclipse, was only the second total solar eclipse visible from within the United States during the 21st century. The 2024 event is the first since 1878 where the totality of the eclipse was visible in Texas. While there will be other eclipses visible here, the next total solar eclipse won't pass directly over Texas until 2317.
