Ole Miss was taking no chances after Lane Kiffin left for LSU following the 2025 season.
According to ESPN, university officials went as far as conducting a sweep of football facilities for potential recording devices while also working to prevent roster and staff departures during the coaching change.
The move came amid concerns about information security, player retention and staff movement as LSU recruited assistants and players from the program.
“We actually had the FBI come through and walk the building for bugs and for everything," said Walker Jones, the co-founder of Ole Miss' NIL collective, on a recent podcast episode.
"We knew kind of what was in Baton Rouge, and we knew how they operated. I remember getting on my knees and looking underneath the desk, like checking for, ‘Is there some sort of bug in my office?’”
