a deep open isn't a bigger question, it's a different one. not "how are you." something with an actual door in it: what's been on your mind lately, what are you avoiding right now. small enough for a tuesday morning, specific enough that autopilot can't answer it.
mornings work for this because nervous systems are calmer before the day's demands start stacking up. a question that would feel like an ambush at 9pm often lands as simply curious at 7am.
