When she’s not on shift at the hospital, Riya Mahesh is Quiet Light, crafting beautiful electronic-ambient-folk that has caught the ear of tastemaking label True Panther and popstar oliviarodrigo. This Saturday, Mahesh will be the first artist on the bill to perform at daisychainfields, Rodrigo's new music festival featuring an all-female line-up and fundraising for charities supporting women and girls.
Asked how she's balancing her job in medicine with her burgeoning music career, Quiet Light doesn't pretend to have it solved. "I've been trying to be as zen as possible about it and take things day by day." One thing isn't in question, though. "I've made music my whole life, and I'm never going to stop," she says. "Whether or not it pays the bills, it's always going to be the most constant thing in my life."
