when you actually get into who ororo munroe is, her story is one that we deserve to see explored on screen. orphaned as a child, survived on the streets of cairo, travelled across africa and eventually became so powerful that people worshipped her as a goddess. she joined the x-men, became one of their greatest leaders, lost her powers and still proved she could lead without them. storm became the queen of wakanda and has spent decades being one of the most formidable women in the marvel universe. that’s what makes storm so special to me. her power has never really been the interesting part, it’s what she does with it. she’s been through some absolutely horrific things and somehow comes out the other side with more compassion, a leader without needing to dominate everyone around her, and there’s this quiet authority to her that makes you understand why people follow her. even marvel describes her as a character whose greatest strengths are her resilience, presence and leadership. ...
