Georgia just made history. Everton Blair Jr. won a runoff for Congress, defeating the daughter of the late Rep. David Scott to finish out his term. Blair will become the first openly gay man elected to Congress from Georgia and the South's first Black, openly gay member of Congress. A former math teacher and Gwinnett County school board chair, he came out publicly back in 2019 while serving in local office. His term is temporary, but the milestone is permanent. His win also helps Democrats chip away at a razor thin Republican majority in the House. Head to blavity.com for the full story. #Blavity #BlackNews #EvertonBlair #Georgia
