Last season during our home game against the broncos I had the profound privilege to team up with wwp to honor the thirteen servicemen killed in Afghanistan by placing each of their names on my plant cleat. I was also able to highlight all who have been wounded or killed in service to our nation on my kicking cleat. This small gesture was a way to honor the many brave men and women who have dedicated their lives to the cause of freedom because as WWP states, “The greatest casualty is being forgotten.” In addition to the cleats, I invited Lt. Sam Farmer, USMC the platoon commander of the unit attacked in Afghanistan, who was also injured in the attack, to attend the game with his family. As a lifelong chiefs fan he was able to throw the ceremonial first pass. Sam is a great example of leadership and bravery in the face of adversity.
