After the assassination of Charlie Kirk in 2025, a group based in Destin, FL, commissioned an artificial reef in his honor. The reef was constructed at Reefmaker-Walter Marine in Orange Beach and decorated with logos and slogans inspired by Kirk. Plans called for it to be sunk Aug. 19 in the Gulf near Destin, where it will provide habitat for marine life. Thousands of artificial reefs have been sunk in the Gulf to benefit anglers and some, like this one, have been privately commissioned in memory of loved ones.
