Every game is a home game for him 🫡
Shiyazh Pete’s story is one of the most powerful moments the NFL’s had all preseason. The undrafted rookie out of New Mexico State and Kentucky became the first member of the Navajo Nation to sign with an NFL team, and thousands of Navajo Nation members made the trip to Arizona just to see him take the field.
He only played six snaps blocking for a fourth quarter touchdown, but the crowd stood and chanted his name anyway, and Pete admitted after the game that English wasn’t even the right language to describe what that moment meant to him. That’s bigger than football, that’s a whole community seeing themselves represented on the biggest stage there is.
What’s the most powerful “first” moment you’ve seen in sports?
