Celebrating OUR HISTORY!!!! Floralyn Swanson Green...daughter of Henry Swanson and beloved educator Annie Pennell Swanson. Started as a stellar band student at Lincoln High playing bugle before transitioning to drums. After graduating from Texas College she started playing keyboards. She started teaching in Galveston, Texas by day...while fronting her own jazz combo nights at all of the major jazz venues in Houston by night. After marriage, she returned to Palestine and played for Grant Chapel before relocating to Fort Worth. There she resumed her jazz career...playing with the likes of Fathead Newman, Marshel Ivery, etc...filling venues all over D/FW and becoming the most celebrated jazz artist in the area. She eventually left performing.. becoming a music teacher in the Fort Worth school system and Choir Director/musician for Carter Metropolitan Church until her death in 1988. #plaestinetx #palestine_isd #wildcatnation #ourblackhistory
