Erica Van Acker was born and raised in Manhattan, New York. She had a second home in Sag Harbor on Long Island, where she and a business partner had opened a restaurant staffed entirely by women. Van Acker helped create the menus and manage it. She also worked as a senior consultant at Aon Corporation. On 9/11, Van Acker was at her office on the South Tower’s 102nd floor.
