Next door to a black hole At the center of the Milky Way lurks a black hole as massive as four million Suns. It’s called Sagittarius A*, or Sgr A* for short. Our NASAWebb telescope recently took a close look into our galaxy’s core—in particular, a star named IRS 3 that’s only half a light-year from Sgr A*. You can just barely see it as a reddish dot near the center of this image. IRS 3 is near the end of its life, and its unique age and location are helping astronomers understand how our galaxy continues to evolve. #NASA #Space #SupermassiveBlackHole
