One and done. Unfortunately for the Hillsboro Hops, it was one run in the first inning and then, no más. After defeating the Eugene Emeralds in the two opening game of their series at Hillsboro Hops Ballpark, the Hops had a night not to remember on August 13th suffering a 9-1 loss to the Em's. The Emeralds jumped on the Hops immediately in the opening inning with three runs out of the gate. In the bottom half Slade Caldwell led off for the Hops with a hustle play down to first for a single on an infield hit. After making his way to third off a Mejía walk and Jose Alpuria grounding out, Caldwell was brought home from third base for the Hops' only run in the game by Carlos Virahonda. The Hops bats just couldn't produce as Hillsboro had five three-up-three-down innings and only four hits on the night. Mama said there would be days like this. The Hops next traveled down to Eugene for the second half of the series. #allhoppedup #hillsborohops #milb #baseball⚾ hillsborohops
