DSmoke, a Family Affair. Jumped in a few hours before showtime — no rundown, just read the room. What I found wasn’t an audience. It was a reunion. dsmoke7 brought his brothers inglewoodsir and iamdavionf. His wife imsherie on violin. Nieces, nephews, uncles, aunties — all of Inglewood out to watch him work. A pre-show prayer to set the table. Then he hit the drums, brought out drezz.vii (once his high-school student), dropped “Mujeres,” and let the light carry the set from day into dark. The walk from trailer to stage should’ve taken five minutes. Took an hour. He stopped for everybody — dapped ‘em up, jumped in for photos. Because to him they weren’t fans. They were neighbors.
