🚨 TWO OIL-POLLUTION EMERGENCIES ARE PUTTING OCEANS AT RISK OFF IRAN AND OMAN. Oil pollution has reached parts of Qeshm Island’s mangrove coastline in Iran, while a grounded tanker carrying Russian crude has leaked in the protected waters of Oman’s Hallaniyat Islands. Containment, salvage and shoreline clean-up efforts are under way, but fragile marine ecosystems remain at risk. Oceans, mangroves and coastal ecosystems are life support systems, not sacrifice zones for oil. There is no safe way to transport oil at industrial scale, and no spill can be fully cleaned up once it enters the sea, shorelines and sediments. Governments and oil companies must make polluters pay for environmental damage, support transparent, independent assessments and end dependence on oil and gas. Peace, ocean protection and a fast, fair shift to renewable energy are inseparable. #OilSpill #Iran #Oman #ProtectTheOceans #MakePollutersPay
