Long Islanders could see the moon turn a reddish, coppery color Thursday night during a deep partial lunar eclipse.
The eclipse is expected to begin around 9:23 p.m. Aug. 27, with about 95% of the moon covered by Earth’s shadow at its peak around midnight.
No special glasses are needed, but experts recommend finding a dark spot with clear skies for the best view.
