Sometimes grief brings back things you thought you had learned to carry. The death of Professor Jason Arday has affected many people deeply, particularly people of colour who may recognise something of their own experiences in the wider conversations around racism, exclusion and inequality. Those feelings can bring anger, sadness, numbness or exhaustion back to the surface. Sometimes several of those emotions exist at once. That deserves to be acknowledged. If this story has affected you, give yourself permission to feel what is coming up. Speak to people around whom you feel safe and understood. And if you need more support, there is nothing wrong with seeking professional help from someone who understands both trauma and the racial and cultural context around what you are experiencing. You do not have to carry all of it quietly. #JasonArday #RacialTrauma #MentalHealth #PeopleOfColour #TraumaRecovery
