I didn’t submit for the Grammys this year.
And I’m okay with that.
Because what I realized is this: I was trying to frost the cake before the baby was born. 😂
The submission deadline became a rite of passage for me. It made me look at the level of work I want people to hear, the experience I want this record to create, the vinyl, the interior artwork, the sequencing, the storytelling, the world around the music—all of it.
And yes, I had my little ego moment. I got disappointed. I licked my wounds. I had to get over myself.
And for those of you who picked me up, dusted me off, reminded me who I am, and helped me get back to the work—thank you.
Because this is a beautiful body of work.
And I do not want to rush it just to say I submitted it.
I want to crown it when it is ready to be crowned.
So hang in there with me a little while longer.
The baby is not born yet.
But baby…
she is coming.
