Preparing for your first HYROX? 🏃♂️ Here’s exactly how I’d train.
Most people go in thinking it’s a strength event. It isn’t. 👇
1️⃣ Run at least 18 km per week — cumulatively It doesn’t have to be one long run. Just get the volume in. HYROX is 8 × 1 km with stations in between. It’s a running event at its core. Get this right and the whole race becomes enjoyable instead of survivable.
2️⃣ Build capacity, not just strength 💪 Pair SkiErg with overhead strict press and kettlebell see-saw press. Cardio and strength aren’t separate lanes here — they build on each other.
3️⃣ Learn the technique before you push the pace 🎯 Spend real time on the rower and the SkiErg. Don’t just get on and pull intuitively. Bad mechanics will cost you more minutes. Also unfortunately injuries
4️⃣ Never train longer than 45 minutes ⏱️ Find the edge of deep exhaustion and stay just short of it. That’s what lets you train 4× a week. you need to recover fast enough to train again.
5️⃣ Split your week 📅...
