VILLANELLE, Outbreak Fest x All Points East
REVIEW: “You really picked us over Interpol, huh?” smirks Gene Gallagher right before VILLANELLE launch into the propulsive riffs of ‘Measly Means’, fists flying into the air in front of him.
There’s a rightfully smug ‘if you know, you know’ feeling uniting all those that arrived at the E3 Stage early for the Manchester band’s set. Whilst the dust swirls up and face masks are donned around Victoria Park, they have found themselves somewhat of a shelter under one of the festival’s only covered stages, and they seem fully prepared to witness something special.
Having been at the centre of a whole lot of buzz since the release of their debut EP earlier this summer, that anticipation is certainly well-placed in the hands of VILLANELLE. With sunglasses covering their eyes and smiles spreading from cheek to cheek, the trio seem right at home on a line-up dominated by rock royalty - and so they should.
