Plans for a downtown Dutch Bros drive-thru are dead after they faced pushback from Des Moines neighborhood residents. As new Dutch Bros locations crop up around the metro, site plans for a downtown location on a vacant lot along Martin Luther King Jr. Parkway were withdrawn, the city's development services director Cody Christensen told the Des Moines Register on Aug. 28. Before the site plan was pulled, the downtown Dutch Bros was set to go before the plan and zoning commission on Sept. 17. The item has since been canceled, according to the city's permit database.
