Arsenal’s Premier League title defense is officially underway and the Gunners wasted no time making a statement.
Arsenal defeated newly promoted Coventry City 3-0 at the Emirates Stadium in the opening match of the 2026/27 Premier League season. Kai Havertz opened the scoring in the 15th minute, Bukayo Saka doubled the lead just eight minutes later, and captain Martin Ødegaard made it 3-0 shortly after halftime.
For Coventry City, this was a historic night regardless of the result. The Sky Blues were back in the Premier League for the first time in 25 years, but their first test couldn’t have been much tougher: away at the home of the defending champions.
