One of Boston’s most historic restaurants is changing hands. The Union Oyster House, widely recognized as America’s oldest continuously operating restaurant, is being sold to the billionaire Fertitta family of Houston after more than 50 years under longtime owner Joe Milano. The Fertittas are known for business interests including the Houston Rockets and Golden Nugget casinos. Despite the change in ownership, a family spokesperson says the plan is to continue operating the historic restaurant much as it has been. The Union Oyster House has been serving customers since 1826 and sits along Boston’s Freedom Trail as a National Historic Landmark.
