According to reports, #Beyoncé has announced a personal donation of $1 million to help support relief efforts in Colombia following a devastating earthquake. According to a statement from Parkwood Entertainment on Tuesday, the donation will help provide food, shelter and essential supplies to communities hit hardest by the 7.4 magnitude earthquake that struck Chocó on August 10. The statement also encouraged those who are able to contribute to support organizations including Food For the Poor and World Central Kitchen. The earthquake has reportedly killed at least 312 people and destroyed approximately 29,000 homes. The United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs estimates that around 69,000 people in Chocó, roughly 10% of the region’s population, were affected or displaced.
