If you know Mike, you know the reaction says it all. When the Dolphins called De’Von Achane’s name at pick 84 in the 2023 draft, Mike had a reaction. A rare one. The kind that doesn’t happen often in that war room. We should have known what it meant. Fast forward to now: 1,034 rushing yards (3rd in the NFL), 370 receiving yards, 10 total touchdowns through 12 games. Achane’s undeniably one of the most dynamic dual-threat backs in football. The Dolphins have won 3 straight and 4 of their last 5. And No. 28 is a massive reason why. Draft evaluation. Scheme fit. Player development. This is what elite coaching looks like. Mike saw it, trusted it, and built an offense that maximized it. That 2023 draft day reaction? Turns out it was the right one.
