A former Border Patrol agent and his fiancée fraudulently collected more than $25,000 in food assistance while he was still employed by U.S. Customs and Border Protection. Prosecutors say Saul Rivas Hau and Hilda Sanchez collected SNAP benefits from March 2022 through August 2025, along with WIC benefits from February 2023 through January 2024. Both pleaded guilty to felony theft. Neither received time behind bars—they were each sentenced to three years of supervised probation and ordered to repay $26,424.
