An Apache Junction man says he took Arizona’s Flock camera debate into his own hands. Ed Kahle told FOX 10 he was heading to lunch when he spotted a license plate reader near Superstition Boulevard and Goldfield Road. Kahle says he backed his work truck into the pole until it bent and the camera was facing toward the sky. Kahle was arrested that night and told FOX 10 he understands what he did was illegal but does not regret it. The camera has since been removed, and he says his truck remains in police custody while he waits for a court date. The incident comes during growing scrutiny of automated license plate readers across Arizona. Pinal County Sheriff Ross Teeple recently announced the county will not renew its Flock contract, while Chandler announced August 7 that it is discontinuing its 40 fixed Flock cameras following an audit that identified an unexplained anomaly.
