Apache Junction PD says an internal investigation found the officer used the department’s automated license plate reader system for something unrelated to any authorized police business. He asked two dispatchers to run the plate and framed it as official. They ran it, then realized something was off and took it to their supervisor. That’s the only reason any of this surfaced. He was placed on administrative leave when the investigation opened and resigned before termination proceedings finished.
