Almost every Afro-Latin dancer friend of mine has asked me: “Why do you love Kizomba so much? I always see you in the Kizomba room.” 😂 I connect with Kizomba music differently. The rhythm, pauses, energy and connection just feel natural to me. But I didn’t fall in love with it overnight. Almost a year ago, at AfroKiz in Pattaya 🇹🇭, I met @lauradpaz who has been dancing and teaching Kizomba for almost a decade. Back then, I was still a beginner, still learner I remember thinking, “Can I really dance with her?” And when the moment came… I was literally shivering. 😂 You know your basics and combinations. Then you stand in front of an international artist with years of experience… and suddenly you overthink everything. And then the music started. Magic. Laura made the dance feel playful, not intimidating. We teased each other, explored, went back to basics, found new movements and kept listening to each other.
