Happy birthday to National Parks! On August 25, 1916, President Woodrow Wilson signed the Organic Act of 1916 creating the National Park Service. For today, Jared letterpress printed a small electrotype (copy of a woodcut) from the Lewis Winter Collection. This cut of a grizzly bear was made roughly 125-135 years ago. Typeset below the bear in 24 point Caslon font states, “National Park Service.” This was printed with black rubber base ink using our Washington hand press, which was made in 1852.
