No. 14 USC opened the 2026 season with a win at the Coliseum, taking down San José State 42–26. The Trojans controlled the game almost immediately. Jayden Maiava capped a 13-play opening drive with a one-yard touchdown run, and USC eventually carried a commanding 28–0 lead into halftime. San José State managed only 102 total yards over the first two quarters.
