Louisiana Christian just delivered one of the biggest upsets we may see all season. The NAIA Wildcats traveled to Natchitoches on Thursday night to open the 2026 season against Northwestern State, an NCAA Division I FCS program. Early on, it looked like the Demons would take care of business. Northwestern State built a 27–14 halftime lead and had opportunities to make the margin even larger, but two red-zone fumbles kept Louisiana Christian alive. Then the game completely flipped. Datlan Cunningham opened the second half with a 37-yard touchdown run before Ernest Mitchell returned an interception 42 yards for a touchdown. Louisiana Christian eventually grabbed the lead and continued pouring it on, with Bryce Perkins finding Omarius Davis for a 52-yard touchdown early in the fourth quarter to make it 42–30.
