Long before “The Hit” made Jadeveon Clowney a household name, he was already terrorizing SEC offenses. The former No. 1 overall recruit arrived at South Carolina in 2011 with enormous expectations and needed only two college games to show why. In his first SEC game, the true freshman traveled to Athens to face Georgia and quarterback Aaron Murray. Clowney recorded the first two sacks of his college career, with his biggest play coming in the final minutes of a wild shootout. With South Carolina holding a 38–35 lead, Clowney exploded into the backfield and strip-sacked Murray. Melvin Ingram recovered the loose ball and took it into the end zone, giving the Gamecocks a 45–35 lead with just over three minutes remaining.
