I lost a whole spring to the wrong bank before I understood the wind.
Fresh warm wind in spring and summer and the fish get on the end of it. Food gets pushed down there, the oxygen goes up, the bottom gets stirred. It turns into a dinner table.
But it is a starting point, not a rule. A cold wind in winter can do the exact opposite, and plenty of anglers have blanked on a windward bank in February being very confident.
So you read it, then you check it against what you can actually see.
