California’s high-speed rail, which is years off schedule, still lacks the full funding needed to build the project. The current estimated cost to connect San Francisco to L.A. is $126 billion, says Anthony Williams, a California High-Speed Rail Authority board member. That’s more funding than Amtrak has received in its entire existence, and still leaves a shortfall of roughly $90 billion. Can it get done without federal help? Under a new plan, the Authority says it hopes to cut costs, attract private investment, and connect to bigger cities much sooner. #train #highspeedtrain #california #infrastructure #bullettrain
