One of the greatest is going away. Eli Tomac has announced he will retire from professional racing after the three SMX playoff rounds in September. In his own Instagram post that we reposted earlier, he explained that he did plan on racing again next year with Red Bull KTM, but has decided that the time is now. Tomac will retire after one of the most dedicated careers in the history of the sport, sitting second all-time in premier-class AMA Supercross victories, with two AMA 450 Supercross Championships, four AMA 450 Pro Motocross Championships, an AMA 250 Pro Motocross Championship and an AMA 250 Divisional Supercross Championship, as a victory with Team USA at the 2022 FIM Motocross of Nations. He won the very first pro race he ever entered, at Hangtown in 2010, and won races at the highest level as recently as this year. This is about more than numbers, though.
