While watching this summer’s film releases, I noticed the same faces in nearly every film: Tom Holland, Zendaya, Anne Hathaway and Timothee Chalamet, among others. After the second or third time seeing them, they stopped appearing as the characters they were meant to portray. Instead all I could see was the actors. I could only see them as the uber-famous actors and actresses they are in real life. Instead of what the epic superhero film “Spider-Man: Brand New Day” was meant to be, it felt more like watching Holland — who happened to be playing Peter Parker — do flips for two hours and 24 minutes. Watching “The Devil Wears Prada 2” was like watching Hathaway in an alternate universe where she went into journalism rather than acting.
