SPORTS | Women’s soccer struggles in 3-1 loss to NC State NC State found the board early after two unsuccessful shots. In the 10th minute, NC State senior forward Jade Bordeleau intercepted a pass attempt from JMU fifth-year defender Soleil Flores between the 18-foot box and midfield. Bordeleau found leverage around Flores and fired a strike past DeCerb for the Wolfpack’s first goal. “She is their focal point when it comes to them attacking, and she did really well,” JMU head coach Joshua Walters said. “We thought all week if she ran a bit, we could take her legs away, [but] we just can’t take advantage of it when her legs win.” JMU junior forward Ginny Lackey had a response 22 seconds after Bordeleau’s goal — Lackey took hold of an errant NC State pass just outside the 18-yard box to its freshman goalkeeper Amor Leigh Martin Esteban and scored the game-tying goal.
