Meet the Mercedes-AMG ONE — a road-legal hypercar built with technology inspired directly by Formula 1.
The idea was completely insane:
Take F1 technology and somehow make it work in a road car.
The AMG ONE was first revealed in 2017, and even today, its design looks like something from the future.
At its heart is a 1.6-liter turbocharged V6 hybrid power unit derived from Mercedes-AMG’s Formula 1 technology.
But the engine is only part of the story.
The AMG ONE uses four electric motors, advanced active aerodynamics and a lightweight carbon-fiber construction to turn the car into something much closer to a race car than a conventional road-going Mercedes.
The combined power output is over 1,000 horsepower, while the V6 can rev to around 11,000 rpm. 🤯
And getting this kind of technology into a road car wasn't easy.
A Formula 1 power unit is designed for racing, not for sitting in traffic, starting repeatedly, meeting road-car regulations and delivering long-term usability.
