It took years, not weeks, before mornings looked anything like easy.
For a long stretch, every school day started the same way.
The same fight, the same driveway, the same forty five minutes (minimum) of trying everything I could think of to get her out the door.
I remember genuinely wondering if this was just who she was going to be. A kid who couldn’t do mornings. A kid who couldn’t do school.
She wasn’t.
She just needed something different to what I kept offering her.
The twelve-minute Tuesday in this carousel is real, it’s just not from year one. It came after a long time of getting it wrong, then slowly getting it right.
My daughter missed over 100 days of school in a single year. She’s now at her first choice university.
