An orangutan on Indonesia's Borneo island has been rescued by locals, as haze from forest and land fires continues to sweep across the region. The orangutan, given the name Sampurna, did not have any severe burn-related injuries, but it had breathing problems and had vomited, a local veterinarian said. “We suspected that he (orangutan) was also suffering from an acute respiratory infection,” the vet added. Sampurna received fluids through an intravenous drip, with a makeshift infusion bag hanging from a palm-oil frond.
