I wanted to share how I created this image of the partial solar eclipse at Jodrell Bank 🌒📡 This isn’t a single shot — it’s a composite built from a time-lapse sequence, capturing the eclipse’s movement across the afternoon sky. The camera was locked on a tripod with a 24–70mm lens, carefully framed to include the Lovell Telescope while leaving space for the eclipse to travel through the scene. I used an ND filter to tame the sun’s intensity and exposed specifically for the solar disc, taking a frame roughly every 5 minutes. Consistency was everything — camera position, composition, and focus all had to remain completely unchanged. Even the slightest shift would have made alignment far more difficult later on. Once the sequence was complete, I captured a separate foreground exposure for Jodrell Bank and the landscape, giving a clean, well-balanced base without lifting shadows from the eclipse frames.
