Too early → On time → On time → Too late. The Mitten Shadow is coming in two weeks. For just two or three days each spring and fall, the light over Monument Valley lines up so precisely that West Mitten's shadow climbs across the desert floor and lands exactly on East Mitten's face - edge to edge, like they're about to high five. Miss it by a single day and the timing falls apart - too early, still reaching; too late, already slipped past. I've been lucky enough to catch it "on time" three times.
