Federal authorities say a 35-year-old man built an entire fake identity to run one of the more elaborate romance scams we’ve seen. Daejon Love allegedly posed as both a 49ers player and a real estate investor, meeting women through dating apps and convincing them they were in real relationships with him. His Instagram reportedly included fabricated career highlights like “Free Agency,” “Year 1,” and “Super Bowl,” along with fake bank statements and a lifestyle built entirely on lies. Prosecutors say Love had help: 18-year-old Taylor Chan allegedly posed as his financial advisor, even joining three-way FaceTime calls to show victims falsified investment gains. Some women were reportedly encouraged to take out personal loans once they ran out of money. Once questions started or the money dried up, Love would allegedly cut off contact.
