My mom and I were fortunate enough to be welcomed into a Maasai manyatta and shown a glimpse of Maasai culture. After hearing their stories, participating in some Maasai traditions, and seeing a bit of daily life in the manyatta, we were both given Maasai names. My mom was given the name, Nashipai “the joyful one” and I was given the name, Naserian “the blessed one”.
